The European Commission has adopted the 2025 EIC work programme. The EIC Funding in 2025 is €1.4 billion aiming at deep tech and scale up of strategic technologies.
EIC Pathfinder
Specifically, this year €262 million will be allocated to the EIC Pathfinder schemes.
- If you or your colleague are interested in knowing more about Pathfinder funding take the opportunity to attend our information session on 8 November at Pufendorf, kl 13-14.30. You will get both general call information as well as the opportunity to listen to a granted and experienced researcher, Professor Thomas Laurell.
- Pathfinder is funding for multi-disciplinary research teams to undertake visionary early-stage technology research and development with the potential to lead to technology breakthroughs.
- There is both an Open call (in the spring) and a Challenged based call (in autumn) and the grants are up to between €3 and €4 million, depending on topic.
EIC Transition
€98 million is allocated to this scheme. It aims to fund projects that turn research results into innovation opportunities. The projects must build on results generated by EIC Pathfinder, European Research Council Proof of Concept and Horizon Europe Pillar 2 (societal challenges) collaborative projects (grants up to €2.5 million).
Other news from the EIC work programme is the new STEP scheme and EIC Accelerator, these are aimed at companies:
- EIC Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP) Scale-up scheme – €300 million – will provide additional equity funding to promising companies driving innovation in critical areas (investments from €10 to €30 million).
- EIC Accelerator: €634 million for start-ups and SMEs to develop, commercialise and scale up innovations with the potential to create new markets or disrupt existing ones (grants below €2.5 million, investments from €500 000 to €10 million).
