ERC Synergy Grants information seminar

Research Services invites Lund University researchers interested in ERC Synergy Grants to a short information seminar.

When: Thursday 6 April, at 12.30-13.00.

Where: Hörsalen, Lundmarksalen, Astronomihuset, Sölvegatan 27, Lund.

Synergy Grants were introduced as a pilot in 2012-2013 and will reappear in the ERC Work Programme 2018. Expected deadline for the first SyG call is November 2017.

Brief preliminary information on the SyG:

  • Large-scale projects that promote substantial advances in the frontier of knowledge
  • 2 – 4 Principal Investigators (PIs), and, as necessary, their teams
  • Scientific excellence as the sole criterion to assess and select proposals
  • No specific eligibility criteria are foreseen for PIs applying for the ERC SyG, but only exceptional proposals are likely to be funded
  • Funding: Maximum €15 million for a period up to 6 years
  • Projects should demonstrate synergies, complementarities and added value that could lead to breakthroughs that would not be possible by the individual PIs working alone.
  • Synergy Groups are not required to be co-located but the PIs will have to demonstrate their commitment to the group project
  • Three-step peer review evaluation, including interview in Brussels

Register for the seminar via this link at the latest on 3 April. And please contact Research Services if you are interested in applying but cannot attend the information seminar so that we can provide you with further information about the scheme as soon as it becomes available and provide support in the application process.
